Must Have Software?

I just ordered an Audiovox 5600 from Amazon and should receive it within a few days. This will be my first Smartphone, and I'm wondering what software I should be installing right when I get it? Are there any must-haves?

I'm probably going to purchase a 512MB mini-sd card for thing device soon. Why couldn't they use normal SD? Grrr... Anyway, just curious about what I should be looking for.
