<i>"Soon YOU can have the phone with ultimate connectivity. The Motorola MPx220 allows you to stay up-to-date with your email, calendar and contacts when you are on the move. Thank you for letting us know that you're interested. We will be sending you an email so you are one of the first to know when and where you can buy this product - <b>on line and in stores through AT&amp;T Wireless.</b>"</i> <br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/ATTMPX220small.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/><br /><br />I am sure by now everyone who had signed up on the Motorola MPx220 <a href="https://secure.indigoproductions.com/motorola/MPx220/mpx220_reg.html">promotion page</a> must have received an E-Mail with the above text message. The E-Mail does not give us any hint about the launch date or launch month, all it says is <i>"soon".</i> :( Recently we heard that Cingular might be launching MPx220 exclusively through <a href="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=42244">Best Buy,</a> and now this E-Mail. So who is it going to be: AT&amp;T or Cingular? :?

I practically need it to be Cingular, because I'm currently stuck in an agreement with them. I don't mind Cingular either, I've never had any problems with them, except that if I get a smartphone now (my first), they don't have a data plan to match.

That's why I'm really hoping they come out with the MPx220 and also some re-vamped data plans at the same time!!!! :)

What do you all think? Will Cingular update their data plans if they offer a smartphone that would use better data plans?

If I were sitting in Cingular board room. Since I know that my company is going to merge with AT&T. I would try and experiment with new data plans now. To get a feel for what works and what doesn't before the merger. And if it doesn't, change it after the merger. ;-)

But I am afraid things do not work that way. Frankly I don't know Cingular that well. ;-) Also Cingular might think that it does not need aggressive pricing because post merger it will be one of the biggest carriers, it does not have to seek subscribers as aggressively as T-Mobile.

Sorry, not posting this PhoneMag news item (http://www.phonemag.com/index.php/weblog/read_more/10072004_motorola_mpx220_smartphone_coming_soon/) on the front page. I thought this news item fits the current thread. It adds to the Cingular...AT&T...Cingular...AT&T..Ci....

PhoneMag is very confident that the wait is indeed almost over based on information we obtained from reliable sources in the past months. We’re confident that Cingular will be the first to get the Motorola MPx220 smartphone around the October 18th time frame.

PhoneMag's reliable sources in the past (http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6295) have said Oct 18th as the launch day.
