Channel9 has posted a number of new video's of Ori. This time Ori talks about debugging and deploying applications using Bluetooth, (http://channel9.msdn.com/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=24101#24101) the new event notification (http://channel9.msdn.com/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=24100#24100) feature in the upcoming Visual Studio release, and demonstrates some cool new features of the upcoming Visual Studio. (http://channel9.msdn.com/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=23986) All the video's are fairly short, the first is about 1 minute in length, while the other two are just over 3 minutes. Don't let that fool you, if you're a Windows Mobile developer and you're not getting excited by what he's talking about, then we need to have a talk.

Agreed. The event notification interface is the one aspect that has me really excited. There is a lot of potential uses for this that I can think of, and I haven't really given it any "deep thought" yet.

Agreed! I've got a couple ideas that I have been planning out, but they really needed to be aware of the system changes. I'm really looking forward to the next release....

Heh... glad you guys are excited about the notifications API (my baby :))

I'd be interested in hearing more about the scenarios that you're hoping to have enabled by it. [email protected]

Notifications API is the best...

- New SMS Notification: I can use that in my enterprise apps. Send an SMS to devices to trigger database update. The device gets the message and syncs the device database with enterprise database. Kinda like Exchange mail sync notification.

- Cell Tower Change Notification: Note sure if there is such a notification, but if there were one, it can power the next generation of this app. :-)

- New Voice Recording: John Cody might want this one for his VNotes (http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5756) app. Also New Video Recording or New Picture notifications. ;-)

- The usual Timer, Battery, Incoming - Outgoing Call, File System change.

- A crazy one, the new phones have light sensor (for keypad backlight), maybe there can be a notification for the light sensor. Not sure how it can be helpful. But I am sure some will put it to use. ;-) (But I agree this one is low priority)

- Another crazy one, this one will help backup utilities like Sprite Backup. Program installed or uninstalled notification. This way the backup programs can automatically perform a backup operation when an app has been removed or installed. The File System Change notification may also help for implementing this feature.

- Keypad Notification - I am not looking for a keypress notification. But a notification that is triggered when certain keys are held down for a certain (fixed) duration like 1 or 2 secs. Holding down on the Action button or Record button or Volume up button etc.
