i add them to my windows folder, and they appear under the sound setting when i want to select them as a ringtone, but they seem to get randomly deleted. As in after i select a ringtone that i installed, it works, but then suddenly i find out all of them have disappeared. ITs happened 3 times so far.
Do i have a faulty phone?
this is the second SPV C500 im on. THe headphone jack on the first one was faulty, now my replacement seems to have this problem which i never had with the first one.

Nope, there is nothing wrong with your phone. Any files you put in the windows folder will be lost when you cycle the power on the phone. You need to place the ringtones in the \Storage Card\Applications\Sounds folder.

(I'm typing that path from memory - which means it could be wrong. But it's something like that. )

That's the right place for them, however with my E200 I find that only wav and WMA files can be used, MP3 clips wont show up :S

Thanks for confirming the folder!

As for file types, certian phones - like the Mio 8390, can use MP3s for ringtones. Most phones, can not. :(

Is there a special folder for images that are used as backgrounds? I found the one for the ExtLCD display, but not backgrounds for the main display.

Thanks,

I just created that folder and placed my MID file in it and it is still not listed in the sounds settings.

Just to confirm, the folder name is "\Storage Card\Applications\Sounds", correct?

:!: Follow Up: I answered my own question: The actual folder is "\Storage\Application Data\Sounds", not what I indicated above.
