Photos from the manufacturer’s site suggest a small form factor once the keyboard is folded up, resulting in what would be a nice portable keyboard we feel is cleverly disguised as a scanner (or maybe an electric grill - you decide). It will also include a rubberized stopper for your PDA as well as a place to keep a stylus. Driver support is currently slated for Symbian, Palm, and Windows Mobile (both Smartphone and Pocket PC) handhelds and smartphones."</i><br /><br /> <img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/chainpusBTKeyboard.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/> <br /><br />SmartPhonemate may revolutionize the boring world of portable keyboards with it's designer looks. Let's hope that the price is as attractive as it's looks. ;-)

Could be pretty handy indeed, although i think for smartphones there would be some compatibility issues, and also it will no doubt be battery powered and need constant re-charging.

IMHO I like the smartphone because of the fact that its compact and small, you dont need a fullsize keyboard for it, and as it states in the blurb its more aimed for pda's not smartphones.

If it is priced right. I may buy one. Because over at my workplace all external mail is blocked. My Smartphone is the only link with the outside world. Being a little too dramatic. ;-)

Occassionally when I have to reply to E-Mails on my personal account, I cannot because typing is cumbersome. Also, this keyboard may help me when I am travelling.

It may eliminate the need for Pocket PC. Because people tend to use Pocket PC for inputting text and Smartphone for the internet connection.

Battery life and size are key factors in it's success, if you ask me. However, I do agree. Something like this may be the final nail in my PPC. :D

Hmm... gotta give one to the Voq here... don't think I'll be needing a fold-out keyboard any time soon :) even if I had bluetooth...sigh...

True. If the Voq had a detachable keyboard, making the overall device smaller, I would be more interested in it. I consider my Tanager too large, so the Voq just isn't an option for me. :)
