First it was Motorola's turn to torture us with the (still) elusive MPx220 and now T-Mobile has joined them. :-(

The Motorola MPx220 may have been the first phone announced with Windows Mobile 2003 SE on it, but I get the feeling it will be the last one to market. I'm very disappointed with Motorola.

 :werenotworthy:

My range of emotions...

Now I'm actually considering how I can get this phone to work over here - hmmm. The big thing is going to be the charger me thinks - anyone have any sugesstion how to address charging this phone on US voltage?

My expereince is that phones sold over in Europe come with a multi-headed charger. The Mio I reviewed had it too. This way they can bundle it up once, and sell it anywhere over there. Regardless of the voltage.

Worse case, you have to buy an adapter. Should be easy to find one at a travel or hardware/electrical store.

Yeah, but this guy's (Joe) review is really over the top. "Incredibly impressed" is an understatement! Does anyone read that mag regularly? Are all his reviews like that?

I can read German, so I read the original. It could be a great phone, but any product (especially a new one) has some flaws, advantages as well as disadvantages, and an objective reviewer will list both.

"Joe's" review sounds like he is having an orgasm with the phone! ;-) The way he gushes about it, as if it brought him to nirvana, is very unreal, not at all an objective review. Sounds more like an ad than a review, one wonders if he was paid by the manufacturer to write it.

I'm not knocking the phone, it could be excellent. I hope it becomes available on T-Mobile USA soon, my carrier, which currently has no smartphones. (I'm still mad at them for not taking the MPX220 as originally planned, now it's going to ATTW/Cingular instead.) Just that it's hard to take a "review" like this one of "Joe" seriously.

FWIW, the rumours have always been that T-Mo US would get the MPx100, not the MPx220. :)

That's right..

I bet that Motorola got a wind of the newer HTC devices. I have seen the MPx100 in real life; compared to the C500, i-mate SP3i and SDA, the MPx100 would have looked like a brick. Motorola had a good design, but weren't quick in getting it into the market. Once Moto learnt about the competitors plans, I am sure they just decided to scrap the model.

Now I wonder if HTC has a super secret clam-shell model in the works? I am impressed by their ability to roll out all these models (agreed they are variations of the same platform, but still) in a short span of time. All HTC needs to complete its range is a clamshell. ;-)

All this is happening while Motorola has been struggling with MPx220 and MPx. :-(

I haven't totally lost faith in Moto -- yet.

HTC has years of PocketPC and three generations (SPV, e100, e200) of Windows Mobile Smartphone experience under their belt, so it's gotta be a lot easier for them to crank these out. (hopefully that's the reason) :D
