Turning Adaptive Text Off

Is there a way to turn this feature off? Very annoying.

You can change from T9 to abc to 123 by pressing and holding the * key.
However you should try T9 as it turns out to be not annoying but very useful. If you use Smartphone notes for example it is a real time saver.

Hint: Try the "O" key for multiple guesses at the word you are trying to type in T9 mode.

By the way have you tried the CD user's guide that came with the phone?
