Unfortunately, Motorola officials confirmed that this device has officially been cancelled. It seems that market demand is simply much higher for clamshell-style models, especially among the professional users that are the target market for the MPx series."</i><br /><br />Motorola had held an event in New York City to show off its recently launched models. PhoneScoop was at that event and got this interesting scoop for us. Personally I feel that Motorola is doing the reverse of what Nokia is doing by over emphasizing on clamshell designs. MPx100 is a very stylish candybar Smartphone. I didn't like candybar styling, but MPx100 had me converted. Of course it would have had stiff competition from Orange C500 or QTek 8010.

The MPx220 is currently slated to be available from both AT&T Wireless and Cingular in October.
Uck. No T-Mobile. (Again)

Me too
I am on T-Mobile and I don't want to buy from E-Bay (and go through the hassle of unlocking etc). Glad that Tek n Toys (http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5915)will be carrying it.

I was doing a post in another thread (http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=40417) that made me realize the reason why Motorola dumped MPx100. Maybe it is because MPx100 a tri-band model. Motorola has specifically stated that all its models this year and in future will be Quad band GSM.

Me too, kinda.
I don't want to pay hundreds of dollars extra and have to deal with unbranded firmware again, though. As helpful as T-Mo's data folks are, I still haven't gotten MMS to work with my SPV e100.

The one good thing, I am assuming (can't say for sure), is that even if we have to pay extra $$$ for the Smartphone at Tek n Toys, we will be getting updates to ROM as and when Motorola releases them. We will not be at the mercy of the carriers.

Yup, that's the idea. However, Only time will tell. It will depend on the device / manufacturer.
