You can reach the new support center on 425 202 1029 to get support for your SC1100 handset, and to arrange returns and repairs. You can also visit the Smartphone Developer Kit online tutorial and configuration tool at <a href="http://spdevkit.wdsglobal.com">http://spdevkit.wdsglobal.com</a>."</i><br /><br />In the forums and newsgroups, I have come across a lot of users who were having trouble with the Red-E SC1100, also known as Compal AR11, and were unable to get support through Everlink. Everlink was the original distributor and technical support provider for this model. Matters became worse after Everlink posted the Windows Mobile 2003 update for the Smartphone and a lot of users ended up with a brick after a bad install. This news will sure bring a smile on their faces.

The full stop at the end of the url was causing trouble.
It should be fine now. Thanks for pointing it out.

I pulled my dev kit phone out of cold storage and looks like the battery does not charge. And I know the power connector on my phone is loose. I think I might have to call them tomorrow and see if I can get a new battery. And then visit Radio Shack to make a make-shift charger.

An aquantence of mine offered to sell me one of the Compal AR11 phones (used), but I have been unable to determine a fair price. What do you guys think one of these is worth?

Not good at estimating prices but I would suggest looking at E-Bay to see if someone sold one recently.
Red-E is a very robust phone. I used it for more than 8 months as my only phone and then fell for MPx200.
In case you are shopping for your first phone, I would recommend MPx200.
Red-E Weaknesses
- Poor battery life, almost daily charging needed, if you plan to sync emails
- Poor Voice Quality or weak Speakerphone
- Original model came with SP2002, and upgrade for WM2003 is available but lacks T9 input and takes up valuable memory.
- The keypad buttons for call answer and hang up have silver coating that peels off or fades within a few days of use. That is a manufacturing defect common for all Red-E, but otherwise the phone has good build quality. So in case you do decide to buy one ignore the discoloration :-)
Red-E's Strength
- Has an antenna, so the signal reception is good compared to my MPx200
- Robust, I dropped it a number of times, has scratches but works well
- Unlike MPx200 from AT&T which is dual band (1800/1900). Red-E is tri-band.
I am guessing that Red-E would go for a lot less than a MPx200 on E-Bay.

Yah, I tried ebay, but I couldn't find one there. I was mostly looking for a third development phone as I have an old SPV-100 running 2002 and an MPX200 running 2003, but I use the MPX200 as my primary phone and I was trying to get a dedicated develop device for 2003.
