I was just thinking that it's funny that we're just now getting Windows Mobile 2003 on our SmartPhones when "Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition" is the current edition.

Are there any features in WM2003 SE that we should look forward to for our current i600s? I know it supports landscape vs. portrait, which isn't a big deal on our i600s. It also supports bigger screens, which isn't important on our i600s.

So what would WM2003 SE do for our phones that would be great?

(BTW, I'm looking foward to a CDMA smartphone with the new 220x320 (?) resolution)

I wouldn't count on an WM2003SE update for the i600. It took this long for the 2003 update. The i600 will be too "out-dated" by the time the WM2003SE update was ready. This happened with the original 3600 series iPAQ. Compaq/HP released the first upgrade from 2000 to 2002. However, when the next version was ready, the promptly said, sorry 36xx owners, but your device is just too old. :(

Just my thoughts, I hope that Verizon / Samsung don't see it that way, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

The same thing happened to my HP Jornada 568...when the new OS came out HP did not deliver an update for my unit, but chose to go with the ipaq line instead....so basically I have a $750 dollar GPS unit now...(it makes me sick but I probably have about 2-3k in all the accessories for that Jornada...someday I'll have the heart to ebay it...maybe I'll make some money on the shipping...)

WM2003SE is currently only for PPC, I think. No Smartphone versions out there.

It mainly allows for VGA resolutions and rotation of the screen image. Only Toshiba is upgrading to that version (last I looked) probably because it will support VGA resolution, and the others do not.

Actually, FWIW, there is a new update to Smartphone as well -- that supports higher-resolution screens. 200x320 to be exact (if I remember right). Plus a few other random additions.

You can download the emulator images at microsoft.com.

It's coming on some soon to be released phones. Check out the MPx220 and the C500. Both of those are rumored to have SE on them.

Both of those are GSM phones, right?

From what I hear, the MPx220 is having a few teething problems.
