Mpx220's screen looks smaller than mpx200's ?

My only complaint about mpx200 is the smallish buttons. mpx220's button seems to go on the right direction. Larger is better.

Looks great. I can't wait. Anyone else like me in thinking that these new Motorola Smartphones, the Mpx100 and Mpx220 are going to be absolutely huge and finally be the big splash that Microsoft has been hoping for?

The addition of the 850MHz band, Bluetooth and camera are huge additions as well as the more stable WM 2003 OS. I have convinced myself that these are going to be must-have phones once they start getting out in decent numbers, especially if the carriers hold the price down to a reasonable amount (around what the current Mpx200 costs). Hopefully will create a market for lower priced consumer oriented Smartphones. I just hope T-Mobile and Cingular pick them up and they are not AT&T only in the US.

It's going to be a toss up between the iPaq 63xx, MPx220 and MPx. I'm leaning towards the one(s) that has a built in keyboard(most likely the MPx). Pecking a number pad to get 7 or so word sms to a friend or my wife is just too painful. I'm old, I want to peck once and get the letter I need.

I hear ya. I wish more manufacturers where looking at adding integrated keyboards. :(

Mar2k, just to clarify. It's still up in the air if this phone is quad or just tri. The officail press release said tri, however the presentation @ MDC said quad. The word Quad that appears on the phone appears to be related to a speaker company called Quad. (you'll have to search for the post in our forums for more info on this. Look for Quad, MPx220. )

I'm sticking by my theory that QUAD definitely means quad band - we shall see.

It seems ludicrous that a speaker company would get their name embedded on the outside of the casing, especially that large, unless the speaker on the MPx220 is the best thing since sliced bread. On the other hand I can definitely see why Motorola would want people to know they are shipping QUAD band phones and want to show this on the phone. Just my theory.

I think the phone will end up being Quad, however the logo on the phone matches the one from Quad (the speaker companys) website. Check it out here (http://www.quad-hifi.co.uk/esl.htm). Look at the logo on the lower right. Tell me it's not the exact same as the one on the MPx220.

Yes, I see what you mean - it is strikingly similar, is it confirmed that company's speaker technology is actually being used or is it just a wild theory someone floated?

Even if tri-band, the North American version will definitely have 850MHz band in place of the 900MHz band, that much is almost certain. I don't travel internationally so I could care less about the 900 band. The lack of 850 band on the MPx200 is what has killed it for a lot of potential buyers - Motorola obviously knows that.

Ok, please forgive my poor photoshop skills. I took the picture you had, cut the mpx200 and moved it so that the screen lines up, and then added the red lines. They look pretty much the same size. There does appear to be a little difference but I think this is due to one phone being a little closer to the camera.

No, nothing is really confirmed. That's part of what is driving me nuts. I wish Moto would speak up and tell us what is going on. :(

Ya, same here.

Sigh - September eh?

I noticed that ebay has some 200's with the 2003 OS installed... cost is about $275 - very tempting...

I'm with mar2k and his reasoning... I think QUAD indicates quad band. The Russian review doesn't mention anything about the speaker and does specifically say it is quad band. I think the logo simillarity is coincidence.

You know, I just hope they have a really nice case for it - or plastic clip for it. Something that is not going to add a ton of bulk... I love the clip on my V300 - very easy to use, adds 0 bulk and keeps the phone securely in place and displayed nicely...
