This phone is also being referred to as the HTC Typhoon. According to speculation, this phone will be available in July of this year. Coming in at 100g, the phone measures 108mm x 46mm x 18mm. According to the discussion <a href="http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=109277&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0">here</a>, the phone will be aimed at a lower-end market and lack things like Bluetooth and a digital camera. Believe it or not, there <i>is </i>a market for this sort of phone!<br /><br />This phone looks like it could be competition for the MPx100 that is due, allegedly, around the same time. We'll keep an eye out, and let you know if this thing is for real.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/c500.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/>

No bluetooth or digital camera? Sounds like an original SPV in a different box.

Since the MPx100 is a high-end phone with Bluetooth and a megapixel camera, somehow I don't think these two phones are in the same category at all. It's say this new HTC device is more like competition for the new Sagem myS-7.
Actually... isn't the myS-7 made by HTC also? ...are they the same hardware??

Actually, the myS-7 (what a stupid name...) was to be built by Mitac.

Ah - that's right. I stand corrected.
Still - if the rumors prove true about this HTC device, these do seem like pretty similar devices.
I guess that's one downside of a highly-standardized platform like MS Smartphone... when you strip out everything you can to make an "entry-level" device, they're all going to be pretty much the same. There's not as much room for manufacturers to differentiate at the low end, because it costs so much just to support the minimum feature set.

Very good point.

I think you guys need to do more research before posting.
This phone appears to have a camera and reported to have bluetooth.
Also there is mention of a FM radio. See here!! (http://www.slashphone.com/6/515.html)
Kind regards,

This thread was started before any of that information was released - back on May 24th. If you want, I would suggest looking at one of the more recent threads here (http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5768) or here (http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5696)
