Well, as I already mentioned in another thread I won a Qyek 7070 in a .NET system developing competition. I mentioned to the Microsoft people that it's sad that I can't develope apps in the .NET compact framework since the phone uses the 2002 OS. I got a reply saying that they have an image that can update my phone to WM 2003 :D
The problem is that I've heard something about WM 2003 being to demanding for the Qtek 7070 (it claims most of the RAM), making the phone unstable. I've also heard that the camera won't work. Does anyone have more information about this?
Thanks!

I may not have the technical information for you. But I have had my fingers burnt with un-supported/beta ROM updates, hence the following statements.
- If you are planning on using this phone as your 'Primary Phone', dont upgrade. Luckily in your case since you just got this phone it may be easy. But you have a Smartphone in your hands, even 2002 can do amazing stuff.
- QTek does have smaller RAM size, only 16MB. So that will cause some problems.

BTW I am in the same boat. I have Microsoft Developer Kit phone. It has 2002 on it. And 2003 is available. But the 2003 does not have T9 input. And this phone is my main phone. And I need T9.
So had to choose daily usage over occasional .NET development.
Also the Emulator does a good job.
Most of the .NET apps run fine in the emulator. Unlike Embedded VC++ programming which most of the time (atleast for me) requires proper phone for validation, the .NET apps are consistent.

Tough call. If you're serious about developing some .NET applications then go for it. The RAM is limiting but things will still work just fine.

Thanks for your replies guys!
It would be cool to show off our application with a real device instead of an emulator at the Imagine Cup (http://www.imaginecup.com) finals. And I love to develope personal apps with the .NET CF.
However, I also want to use the device as my primary phone. But if the RAM issue is very noticable, the camera won't work and I won't have support for Norwegian characters (well, I don't have that at the moment either, but I've found a Danish image that should fix that - gees...) it won't serve as a good primary phone..
I'll send the guy an e-mail and ask if he know anything about the image. I guess I could have worse things to worry about in life :)

Trust me, the memory issue really isn't an issue. If it was my choice, I would go for it.

All the best.
Sorry if I sounded too discouraging. Since you are "serious" about .NET CF apps, you should consider the upgrade. But I like your idea of emailing the folks and finding out all the limitations in the build/upgrade.
And since memory seems to be the only hold up. You can by an SD card. And make sure that when you install third party apps, you install them on the SD card instead of the Phone memory.
