Typically OLED displays have used for the small external displays due to technical barriers; however Samsung feels that they have broken through that limitation.

OLED displays offer durability, enhanced efficiency, lightweight, easier to read, more vibrant colors, and consume less power.

I think this is a great idea and a phone is the perfect device for getting OLED in the market place. Seeing that the "life" of an OLED is less than an LCD and that people tend not to hold on to their cell phones like they do a PPC or Monitor... long life should not matter.

I could not bring up the link... but that might just be me

Not to be a stickler but OLED stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode, rather than device.

Understood - but I was refering to the device on which OLED is used. To date the only device that uses an OLED screen (that I am aware of) is a digi camera made by Casio (I think).

My argument is that people don't hold on to their cell phones for years and that until OLED technology increases it's ability to last longer - dead pixels and all - you won't see it coming to handheld and the monitor marketplace for some time.

Now that I read it that way I understand what you were saying.

Kodak has a few cameras out that use OLED too. Thanks for the news.
