Last week I asked for people's opinions on T-Mobile, and I got plenty (http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5279&highlight=tmobile)! I got enough that I made my decision and switched to T-Mobile. I expected to write a a great post about how hard it is to switch carriers, but I was very surprised. There were absolutely no problems! :D I stopped by a T-Mobile store on my way out of town and signed up. After about 15 minutes, they gave me a new SIM card and sent me on my way. A few hours later, I received a text message welcoming me to the T-Mobile network. Nice.

So far, network coverage has been excellent. I actually have a decent signal in some places that I never had one before. I hit the road again tomorrow, so we'll see how well roaming behaves.

Of course, I signed up for their unlimited data plan. I used my MPx200 like crazy all weekend to check e-mail and surf the web. It is a very liberating experience to access the Internet from nearly anywhere without worrying about being eaten alive by your bill at the end of the month. I nearly wore the battery down on my phone yesterday from using it so much. I can already tell that my usage of this device has been changed for ever. I think if more network operators got in line with T-Mobile and provided affordable data access plans, the popularity of Smartphones would be rising even faster.

Welcome to the greener side of the fence!

I'm just dying to see when and what T-mo's first smartphone will be. Any clues?

Not to mention that if Smartphones were available at operators which already have affordable data plans. Comeon Microsoft and Sprint PCS what are you waiting for?! Microsoft *needs* to get more operators onto the Smartphone platform instead of abominable AT&T.

Another proof of TMobile's excellent customer relationship...

This morning when I got into work I found that GPRS is not working (no icon) but I can place voice calls. I called them up and guess what, within secs they told me that some work is going on and it will be down for max 6 hours :-( And they gave me $5 credit :-)

Havent seen this kind of stuff happening when I was on Sprint or Verizon.
