Motorola MPx200 - future support questionable and still Smartphone 2002
SPV E100 - looks good, but still a little expesive and Smartphone 2002
SPV E200 - best bet but expensive
Mitac Mio - no guarantee for updates in North America
Samsung i600 - Verizon priced me out of this one and it's 2002

that leaves us with ...
Still waiting for Mr. Right to come along.
Mr. Right is a WM SP 2003 for less than $400 US with some degree of support for updates from either manufacturer or carrier.

Yes, I am picky.

The SGH-i250 (http://www.infosyncworld.com/news/n/4815.html) from Samsung is the closest thing so far to my perfect smartphone. Now, only if they would put in:

• 240x320 (http://www1.sprintpcs.com/explore/PhonesAccessories/PhoneDetails.jsp?navLocator=%7Cshop%7CphonesAccessories%7CallPhones%7C&selectSkuId=toshibavm4050&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=1476015&CURRENT_USER%3C%3EATR_SCID=ECOMM&CURRENT_USER%3C%3EATR_PCode=None&CURRENT_USER%3C%3EATR_cartState=group&bmUID=1080603523233) resolution screen
• A Fastap (http://www.mobilemag.com/content/100/340/C2633/)keypad
• Built in wifi or a SDIO slot so I can add wifi (http://www.socketcom.com/product/wlan.asp)

I would be a very happy camper.

My wife owns an MPx200, which she (and I) love. Alas, I NEED Bluetooth, so I'm waiting for Mr. right (ahem, Ms. Right, thank you very much  )

And while I've been waiting, planning on an iPaq 5455 / MS Smartphone combo, this sucker has (potentially) come along:

Ms Right? Looks like it so far, although its not the MS Smartphone Platform

(Footnote: My wife is actually my Ms. Right 8) )

I voted spv100, but I still use my original SPV, and my mpx200.

The MPx doesn't fit the bill for ya? I would think it's a better device all around compared to the BenQ.

How do you use 2 phones? Do you have 2 SIMs? One test device and one personal device?

Mpx200 here. Not perfect by any means... but then again, who/what is? Not even Mr/Ms Right. :-)

In all seriousness though, I love my Mpx200 and use it all the time, although there are occasions I wish it had things like bluetooth.

I vote for MPx200. I love this device and most important reason for me to buy it was that i wanted a smartphone, but it must have a normal phone look/size. I dont like the "bricks" so sx1 or communicators with gsm modules is not for me.

I still have my Qtek 7070 (SPV100).

I'm waiting for the Motorola MPx100 to hit the market... as the matter of fact, we don't even get the MPx200 here up north

The MPx is a great device. Two advantages the BenQ has over the MPx: The BenQ has the GSM 850MHz (where its been [rumored] the MPx does not, and I live in the USA), and the candy bar form factor (as opposed to the clamshell....I believe there was a recent thread here about what form factor people prefer). The former feature is far more important than the latter, but both combined helped me make my decision (which, of course, is written in wet cement  ).

I work in Downtown TO - yes it is an "evaluation unit" - not a bad phone - the keyboard is pretty cool and the processor is pretty fast - the phone is a little big and some bugs still remain in the OS although SW has been addressing them ongoing.
