While the standard Smartphone platform devices notifies incoming calls with the caller name, company and phone number (if available from the contacts database) only, Caller2Picture adds an additional image and a specific ring tone of the contact to the information, displayed on the Smartphone screen. Caller2Picture v3.0 for Smartphone is fast, easy-to-use and comes with a new and improved interface that has new functionality that will make your incoming calls look more interesting."<br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/c2p3press.gif" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/><br /><br />What's everyone's favourite caller ID program? I have to admit that because I don't get many phone calls on my mobile phone, I've never bothered with the effort that this would take to set up (preparing photos of all the people who might call me, etc.). I think I'm looking for more official support from Microsoft in this area before I'll actually use a feature like this...

I would like to see this plus other features come with the phone. Stuff like filtering, so I can filter calls, emails, IM's and so on.

Well the fool I am purchased it thinking it would work on my I600. It doesnt, just sits there in an endless loop trying to load the contacts.
I contacted the developer and got this:
"We are working on a solution to fix the problems we have with Samsung i600 devices.
During next week we will release a patch that will fix this problem. Would you like to be notified when this patch is available?
Best regards,
Calin Brandabur
V2R Mobile Solutions"
So I will hang on and see. They responded right away and I appreciate that. :)

This is an area I am having problems deciding what to do. I love the current call notification window. I know it's plain, but it is very easy to read. With my old phones, I had to fumble around trying to read the name/number of the incoming call. It would show the number and scroll the name. Both of which are in very small font. With the Smartphone it's very easy to glance and see everything. I like that. So I'm not sure about installing an application that will change the incoming call display window.

I agree with you here. Outlook has a place to store photos for contacts. So whatever the solution is, it should use this setting.

I thought that the PPCPhone Edition had this capabilty in it - am I wrong?
If I'm right - I would hope that MS would enable this feature for their smartphone OS as well as the microsoft speech product - THAT would be the ultimate!

That's new in Outlook 2003 - which wasn't availble when Smartphone 2002 and 2003 were released. But you're right - getting that field into Pocket Outlook would be great because you could use your desktop to setup photos and not have to go through a seperate setup process for each caller ID app you wanted to try out.

For the Pocket PC Phone Edition there is a Outlook plug in available.
C2PSync4Outlook is the first product of V2R’s new product range for Outlook plug ins for Windows PC products. C2PSync4Outlook allows you to easily synchronize all ring-tone assignments and pictures you made with Caller2Picture on your PPC with outlook on the Windows PC.

It still does not work on the i600. The company is unresponsive to inquiries. I would avoid this software.
