It is my guess that early 2004 translates into soon.

I hope Verizon doesn't drop the ball on this. Anyone know if this will be user installable or will it have to be done on site?

Because they say it's available in the Verizon stores, I would guess that they will be preforming the update. Otherwise it would just be downloadable from their website.

If the Verizon sales folks are going to do this then that is going to make it "interesting". I'm going to be glad to wait a bit I think.

I just happen to have a brand new corporate store in my town with a seperate tech/repair center so maybe it will go ok.

I'm planning on waiting until the i600's actually come with it already installed before I get one.

Why do I get the feeling that this means Samsung isn't going to come out with another Windows Mobile phone for some time. Why else would Verizon go to the step of allowing a whole OS upgrade for a phone already in the market. Operators are normally loathe to doing something like this. This doesn't bode well for Windows Mobile phones if a tier one mfr like Samsung is shying away. And why the heck has Verizon priced this in the air? At least AT&T and motorola have better ideas going forward. Samsung I've heard rumours about is going to concentrate more on Palm based smartphones.

Someone released a patch that will allow you to install all apps....except the type that require a priveledged certificate.
