begging for help here ...
created a web app to convert PPC TodayScreens (*.tsk)
to SP HomeScreens (*.hme)

it extracts the image and color info from the PPC format,
and then builds up the SP format,
so that they are nearly identical.

the HomeScreens it generates will open in Microsoft's SmartPhone Theme Generator powertoy,
as well as on the PPC 2003 emulator ...
now I was hoping somebody would test a converted HomeScreen on an actual device.

the web app to do the conversions is here:
http://www.brains-N-brawn.com/spHme
and i have a little test page you can browse to with your phone:
http://www.mperfect.net/spHme/test.htm
the item '1139' is a HomeScreen that was auto-generated.

Thank you,
casey

I tried the stock orange and green PPC themes and they both converted perfectly. Thank you for your efforts. It's just too bad that most themes look awful on the smartphones because of poor contrast

yeah, i took that into consideration.
mostly tried to stay true to the color scheme of the original PPC theme.
so if the original is messed up, then the converted one will be too.
some areas i look at the pixels of the image for its brightness,
and figure out if the text should be black or white for contrast.
i tweaked the settings and tried it on many different themes to get the majority of them,
but there will definitely be some it wont get right.
Thanks,
casey
