View Full Version : Home screen SMS msg count not correct!
Hey gang,
My home screen has said for days now that i have (3) SMS messages. But my inbox is empty. Ive tried shutting down and restarting the OS, nothing helps. If I get one message via SMS, then the count goes to (4).
Anyone seen this or have suggestions?

No recourse yet, but will have one soon. Bottom line to avoid in future, read all messages, then delete them. This takes care of the problem. Never delete unread email first.

Isn't there a manual way to reset the count in the database? I thought I read that somewhere.
My phone's (SPV e100) got the issue now, too ... I had read all of my SMS's, but used the "DELETE ALL SMS" feature to remove them, which caused the problem. <grrrrr>

There is a file you can delete that will reset this or you can do a hard reset. I don't recall the name of that file off the top of my head but ifyou got o mpx200.org or smartphone.modaco.com you can probably find a thread that discusses this.

Search on Modaco.com for "Phantom SMS" or "PhantomSMS"
They identify and offer solutions to the problem.

If you're still having problems with the sms message counter, you can delete the cemail.vol file from your phone.
To clear out the cemail.vol file, browse your phone while it's connected to activesync and go to the \IPSM folder. Then shut down and restart the phone. Everything should be cleared out when you restart.
NOTE: You will lose all of your emails and sms from your inbox. Fortunately you can set the sync to reload your messages from outlook by selecting, in the activesync:
Tools/options double click on inbox and check the "copy messages from the last (blank) days.
Hope this helps.
