OMAP processors are used in a range of smartphone and handheld products to support multimedia and wireless data features. <br /><br />The 1710 is the first mobile processor to use 90 nm technology. It also maintains backwards software compatibility with previous OMAP processors, allowing TI's existing development community to easily port their applications to the new chip. There is a dedicated DSP for handling full-motion video and audio."<br /><br />40 percent performance increase at half the power? Bring it on TI, bring it on!

because every software implementation I've seen fo Bluetooth on the desktop is a GUI nightmare

Obviously you have not tried a Mac lately.

Obviously you have not tried a Mac lately.

Obviously. And equally as obvious is the fact that you don't check to see if you're responding to the right thread.

This sounds great - interesting that they have moved to 9nm before Intel or AMD have in their desktop processors. Of course I'm sure the TI is not nearly as complicated as the Pentium/Athlon.

I wonder how this compares size, processing power, power required, etc. with the XScales that are prevelant in PDA's.

Is Intel after the SmartPhone market at all? I would think the PXA263 with the ROM embedded right on the chip would be interesting...
