http://www.mpx200.org

Have you ever seen an icon show up at the top of your Smartphone's screen and have no idea what it means? MPx200.org pointed out that part of Microsoft's new Windows Mobile support website is a page dedicated to explaining these icons. Check it out!

Don't get me wrong....Smartphone Thoughts is still the first technology website I check each day....but MPx200.org has been on a roll lately. This post on what the icons mean is helpful, and better yet was one a day or so ago that told an easy way to insert a symbol and how to show all of the symbols the phone is capable of. This technique (which involves holding down the # key in any text entry mode) does not appear in the manual as far as I can find or anywhere on the ATT or Moto websites either.

Good feedback... mpx200.org has been doing a great job and I think we're taking for granted the fact that we've all been using these devices for several months while most of our readers are just getting started.
I have looked at the retail MPx200 manual, but I know the # thing (and lots of other goodies) are explained in the manual we linked to in this article (http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/articles.php?action=expand,3744) a while back.
Maybe we should start up a weekly "Tip and Tricks" column to identify things like this that aren't very obvious. What do you think?

This is great. I was in Amsterdam the other week when this icon appeared: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/resources/support/smartphone/images/icons/roaming.gif and I had no idea what it meant. It was my SmartPhone's first visit abroad, and it had never shown up home in Norway... no I know :-)

I was the one who sent the link to mpx200.org regarding the symbols. I found that info Here (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/resources/support/smartphone/supportsetup.aspx)
It's a great tip and tricks support site hosted by MS. That was where I found out about the # symbols trick too. Check it out.
