Isn't the external window supposed to light up when you're receiving a call? I see the picture of the phone ringing, but the window itself doesn't light up. In a dark car, you can't see anything at all. I used to have a Sanyo by Sprint and the outer window would light up if you were receiving a call, missed a call, or had a new message.

I just got mine today and the external ID DOES light up for incoming calls.

Guess I'll call Verizon for support then. I didn't change a lighting setting anywhere. Thanks for the info!

Mine does not light up either. Can you please post the response from Verizon?

I called Verizon today. Of course the guy called me on the phone, and it lit up. 8O Why does that always happen? I'll continue testing it because I think it works sporadically. The Verizon tech didn't seem to know anything about the problems with the external caller ID issues everyone has if they have a large contact list.

I was going to ask if the light lit up after the phone had gone thru the contacts and figured out who was calling?

The outside window lit up with a picture of a black phone ringing. The caller ID finally came up around the last ring before it went to voicemail. The minute it stops ringing, the external window goes dark. I wish it would stay lit so you would know you missed a call or had a message. My Sanyo used to do that.

I'm sure battery usage was a concern for things like that.

from page 12 of the 'getting started guide' (only shipped in pdf format)...
-------------
Tip: Press and hold the Quick List key while the
closed to turn on the backlight for the front LED
Tip: Press and hold the Quick List key while the
to turn the Radio function on or off. Radio functionality
to the RF capabilities of your Smartphone. With
function off, you cannot place or receive calls.
-------------
The Quick List key is the button that looks like a phone on the right side of the phone.
I think the ability to turn the 'Radio' (i.e. the phone service) off so easily is a mistake. (2nd Tip)
