Well, I knew it would happen one day with phones getting as complicated as desktop computers: I managed to fry my Red-E Smartphone while trying to do a ROM upgrade. The phone had ROM build 1048 on it, I managed to get it up to 1049, but when I tried to go up to 1055 I ended up trashing the device because I didn't remove the SD card that had the ROM update from a previous version on it. Different ROM versions for the Red-E require different updating methods, which further adds to the general confusion. And since my SPV is highly dysfunctional now with Smartphone 2003 on it (don't ask), I'm Smartphone-less. <sigh>

So guess what I had to do? I'm back to using my T68i. 8O This is an interesting experience - expect to see a few Thoughts generated from this...

Now how the heck did you get 2003 on your SPV???

It just goes to show you that us techno-geeks will never be satisfied...if I had a dollar for every time I fried a computer device trying to do something I shouldn't...

Ouch, my thoughts are with you.
Just for fun I've used my "old fashion" T68i a week ago or so for a half day and I felt so naked too! :-(

He's got Windows Mobile 2003 on his iPaq 36/3700 series, too. I guess you run the best gadget site, you get to be a gadget god. And then you get bragging rights. :werenotworthy:

I am having a problem upgrading my AR11/sc1100 phone as well. It currently has ROM version v1021 and there aren't any images on the everlink site any longer. If anyone has 1049 or 1053 and instructions, please email them to me.

Thanks
Nick
