According to several VZW reps, the i600 is slated to be released on 11/10 and should be available for purchase then. One person who was able to place an upgrade order before Verizon removed the i600 from the website actually received his i600 today and posted a pic of it charging. You can find the thread here:

I was just reading about the guy who got his, so I decided to check my front door. Much to my surprise there was a box from VZW. Popped it open and I've now got the i600. I ordered on Monday during the brief window of opportunity. $650, but what's a little money.
Gotta let it charge for a while before I can do much.
Initial thoughts...perfect size for a mobile phone and high quality it looks like.
Only took VZW fifteen months too.
Woo hoo! :D

could you please post the skew and item numbers on the shipping manfest for the i600?
The item number is SSCHI600MSV. Not sure about the SKU.
I've played with it a bit more and it's very stable and fast and has an impressive speaker. I haven't activated it yet so not sure about the voice side of things. It's app locked, which isn't much of a surprise.

is this app lock something we will be able to bypass? hrm? thoughts on this? does this just mean that apps have to be signed? Would unlocking ever be possible?

App locked? Does that mean that you can only add programs that Verizon has approved? If that's the case, that's a deal breaker for me and I'll go to the Treo 600. Is that the case?

Same here. If it's app locked, I'll just wait patiently for T-Mobile to build more GSM towers around here!
I don't see the point of App Locking. If you hose the phone up by installing an application, then you do a hard-reset. With the MPx200, that means you hold down the blue "action button" while turning on the phone. Simple as that.

Keep the (smartphone) faith!
A Treo600 with Palm OS (yuck!) will never be your salvation!
Give it a try...you'll have 14 days to get out of the device and any associated contract with Verizon...no questions asked!
