A phone must be coming soon! :D <br /><br /><img src="http://www.verizonwireless.com/images/shared/accessories/medium/sam_i600_case.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/><br /><br />Some of the accessories include an extended battery with 1700 mAH of power (versus the normal 900 mAH), all sorts of hands-free headsets, a carrying case, cradle, power adaptor, and even a keyboard:<br /><br /><img src="http://www.verizonwireless.com/images/shared/accessories/medium/sam_i700_keyboard.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/><br /><br />It seems that the i600 Smartphone shares the same connector as the i700 Pocket PC Phone Edition, so you can swap accessories for both. Cool!

I think I saw on MS Mobiles this phone is listed for $649 - that would be both very discouraging and is ridiculous if in fact true.
I've been holding off on the Motorola because because I'm in an area where Verizon has good coverage.....but the that phone not only looks better but is 1/3 the price!!
Any thoughts?

I am in the same boat as you are. I might just have to buy MPx200 now that I see the price.

Yeah, this is true. It is showing up on my account as an upgrade option. $649 w/o contract, $499 with 2-year contract. OUCH! That is as much as I paid for my first generation iPAQ Pocket PC.
The flipside is that I -would- probably use it for two full years before switching up to a 2005/2006 Smartphone...so it isn't like I wouldn't get my money's worth...still. $500-650 for a -phone- is a bit hard to swallow.
I've heard tons of horror stories about ATTWS, and know several people who cancelled in their grace period in my area because their GSM network has more holes than swiss cheese. On the face of it, I was considering the switch to ATTWS...but the bottom line is that I know I can count on Verizon Wireless.
Hopefully, there will be an option available to just purchase the phone. The $649/499 pricetag includes two batteries, a handset, charger/cradle etc. A "$125 value". If I could just get the handset for $525 w/o a contract and $375 w/ a two year contract...that makes a bit more sense for me. I can purchase an extra battery later. I have a set of headphones I like. I don't -have- to have everything that is in the bundle, or I can purchase it later.

I was hoping to get the phone through work but at that price it would never fly. I can get a cheap laptop for $700!!
And I am hesitant to get a GSM phone because of coverage issues but am rethinking my strategy....maybe buy a Motorola and then try and find the best provider (ATT vs T-Mobile) but am concerned about:
1. Unlocking a phone and then having problems
2. Wasting a lot of time with changing and modifying the providers customized settings for the phone and maybe having problems getting it to work.
3. I still think Verizon has the best overall coverage...I've used their Sierra Wireless card and the Sprint card and Verizon's network is much more reliable
It shouldn't be this difficult!!! Cripes.....

Hooray for URL hacking! http://www.verizonwireless.com/ics/plsql/equipment.phone_popup?p_mkt_code=WA-Dig&p_name=Samsung%20SPH-i600
it's becoming quite ammusing how Verizon is trying to hide all the evidence that the phone is there. the link the started this thread is dead already and I'm sure this one will be too as soon as they track it down here.

I find it somewhat amusing that a large corporation like Verizon can't seem to internally coordinate releasing a new product...

They seem internally coordinated enough to be consitant with the "it's coming out, but we don't know when" line. :)
Their website, OTOH, is much like HP's when they launch a new iPAQ. First there's info, then it's gone, then it's back, then the link changes, ...
