Rumor: Siemens ST55 made especially for T-Mobile will run Microsoft smartphone software
July 11, 2003
German news services are full of rumors related to Siemens ST55, that is supposed to replace (buggy, not stable, according to T-Mobile) Microsoft Smartphone made by HTC. Siemens could manufacture it through Quanta in Taiwan. We cannot confirm any of these rumors and sincerely it is doubtful, that Siemens will produce any Microsoft Smartphone, particularly because it now promotes very much Siemens SX1 phone (Symbian based). On the other hand Siemens is selling in USA the Siemens SX56, which is just a "xda" model produced by HTC with a "Siemens" label on it.
There's a news in local newspaper of Taiwan today says Quanta is manufacturing the ST55 for Siemens. And it will be released next month.
Quanta is the No. 1 OEM/ODM of notebooks in Taiwan.
They manufacture a lot of IBM and Apple notebooks.
