Predictions for sales have already risen from 4M to 5M, according to one analyst. This is a little under half of what Apple expects to ship in the same time period. Apple ships about 12M iPad 2 tablets per quarter, according to this same analyst. Kindle Fire shipping is expected to begin around November 15th. The biggest reported gotcha is a potential shortage of 7-inch displays, with ASUS and HTC also competing for a (currently) limited supply. I've pre-ordered mine, and now we wait!</p>

Just preordered one at Best Buy today to play with. My local store will have plenty of them. Like the UI of the Fire better than that of the Nook tablet. Adding Hulu Plus to the app lineup sold me. Love my iPad 2 but it's just too heavy for book reading and I think the higher pixel density will make fonts more readable. The Nook tablet has better specs (more storage and slightly faster dual core CPU) but it looks sluggish compared to the Fire. I really dislike the Nooks open corner to. Browsing Amazon's app store, it looks like it has all of the apps I use on a daily basis sans Zite and Flipboard but Pulse News reader looks like a decent substitute.
