yup, it's live, and Apple's servers are saturated. I'm only 3/4 of the way through the upgrade after an hour of downloading (with speed averaging under 100KB/s). With two iPhones, an iPod Touch, and an iPad, I'm eagerly awaiting OTA upgrades.

Why? You think that will be faster? With everyone trying to hit the carrier delivery point over the cell network and then the bottleneck from there to Apple's servers?

Anything that avoids the POS that is iTunes is good. :P

I see the grin, but avoiding iTunes could be done without "OTA". Just let the device bypass the application and head straight for the internet via the USB connection to the PC, and PC to internet.

I realize one aspect of OTA could be using your home WiFi to do just that, and that is a great improvement I would think. I bet most folks think of OTA to be cell based though, and I certainly wouldn't have wanted to do the iOS 5 update Over That Air ;)

P.S. I do OTA app updates on my Windows Phone all the time, both out and about over the cell data plan, and at home via WiFi. I could do that with iOS with apps before, couldn't I? I update apps via WiFi at home on my iPad. Don't have a data account on either iOS device at the moment so don't recall if I could update apps via cell. Thought so.
