And after reading this article, you may be surprised on what the author says, or perhaps not. Either way, an interesting read.&nbsp;</p>

I played with this release on my MBA using VirtualBox. Whether it was the CULV processor in the Air or VirtualBox, I found it to be really jerky with lots of lag. I generally like the tiles metaphor for a tablet or desktop (I hated it on a phone) but the lack of [easily] discoverable controls was irritating. I always had to resort to firing up taskmgr to close apps and most of them had no controls whatsoever. That some apps require classic mode is going to be a turn off for those wishing to stay within the tiles UI. In this state I don't think it's possible to give it a fair review.

From the article, "There’s nothing like comparing two OSes to put each one into proper context." That actually should read 'There’s nothing like comparing [a pre beta release of one OS] to [the final shiiping version of another] to put each one into proper context.' Yea. Even if it wasn't a fairly reasonable assesment.

I think Macguy59 is right. Too early to do this sort of comparison/contrast. Won't dispute anyone commenting on Windows 8 on it's own merits (or lack) or direction (or lack), but to compare it to a shipping release is kind of stacking the deck. Kind of like comparing a finished house to one that is just framed. You see where it's going, but you wouldn't want to live in it now.

Interesting that Mcguy59 had apparent laginess. I've had no such issue with it installed natively on a PC, and not a powerhouse (Dell Duo). Smoother than I would have expected, given the early state.
