In any case, Microsoft's aspirations around smartphone operating systems (OS) will never be laughed at again."</em></p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/wpt/auto/1307324640.usr117767.jpg" style="border: 0;" />It's obvious that Microsoft needs to step up their game if they hope to compete with Apple and Google in the battle of mobile ecosystems.&nbsp; While the partnership with Nokia was a great strategic move, when all is said and done, what matters is the phone OS itself and the experience it gives to consumers. The linked article from Brighthand covers 5 Mango features that may end up being the main reason Windows Phone will be able to win over hearts.&nbsp; And as you'll read, it isn't necessarily the featurs themselves that may be winners, but also how those features are implemented in the OS.&nbsp; Mango takes features that may already exist on other platforms, but integrates it in such a way that it blurs the line between OS and app.Check it out to see if you agree.</p>

Knowing exactly what Mango will bring to the OS would be very helpful; based on what is known so far it does not seem that this update will address some of my needs but I am still hoping......

Mango update will bring it closer to competition levels, although to win consumer's hart and mind MS should go further then just chasing after what Apple did, or Google did, it should bring it's own unique features, and that's where we have a problem. Last great thing WP team did was a useful interface, but that's where it ended as well. Now MS back into old habit of watching the market and serving to IT administrators of Fortune 500 companies. Consumer is getting forgotten once again. Just to make a phone call or update a Facebook is not enough anymore. Communications develop quickly. We are stepping in to 4G era, with much faster and cheaper data. People want to have video conferencing ability on their devices, easy upgrade process, more web technologies available to them such as Flush, Silverlight, yes the one by MS, Java, etc... And what ever happened to good old and forgotten features of Windows Mobile, such as, let's say handwriting recognition, and stylus support? As screens on mobile devices become larger, 4-4.3" is a new normal, than more scence it makes to have those features. Or will we wait for Steve Jobs to bring to his iPhone and call it REVOLUTIONARY feature?
