What's remarkable is that we're barely a month past talking about hitting 10k - so things are moving. Now if only MS would do something about giving opening up access to the Marketplace...you still can't get in from outside the few countries that were available at launch.</p>

I'd be more inclined to believe that momentum is building if the Marketplace hadn't been spammed with "My MP", "Real Estate", "Quotes" and other similar apps recently. The marketplace grew by 2000 apps within a week or so due to these garbage apps.

I really wish people could evaluate a mobile platform's viability more by the quality of its apps than only by the quantity. Obviously 10 apps alone would be pretty pathetic, but having lots of good quality apps that don't differ only by a name/location would be a better sign of usefulness than trying to filter out all of these things.

Crap apps is right. I think at this stage 20k apps vs iOS's first 20k apps are quite different.
