The update however, <strong>appears to have broken something</strong> as most of the comments after the update say their screens are now locking up and many are going back to the previous version. So If you are happy with your current version of Friendly, I might hold off on an update until they resolve this issue!</p>

I had the lock up at the start up screen. A reboot of the iPad fixed the problem for me.
