All of the hosting site's 18 million blogs are available now in an iPad-friendly interface, complete with touch interactions and easy customization."</em></p><p><img height="420" src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/at/auto/1300927732.usr105634.jpg" style="border: 1px solid #d2d2bb;" width="480" /></p><p>The company, Automattic, just turned on the new feature today so all of the Wordpress.com blogs are optimized for tablets. If you have your own hosted Wordpress.org blog you can also get the plugin <a href="http://onswipe.com/wordpress" target="_blank">here</a>. They did it on their over 18 million sites to show the "benefit of the web over native apps." I guess they feel there is quite the future in the tablet arena eh?&nbsp;</p>

Sounds great, and the example looks great, but... I was shocked by the appearance when I went to my own WordPress blog. Looked pretty but not as usable. I went to two other WordPress blogs and wasn’t thrilled either. I then went to my blog with a PC and turned this thing off. Thankfully the blog looked “normal” from a notebook (and looks normal now).

It may be possible to tweak this so it looks great and is just as usable. I’ll explore that this weekend.

Personally, I see my iPad as almost a desktop, and that’s the view I prefer. It’s one thing to have a Special View on my Smartphone; that’s one of the reasons I grew tired of browsing on the small screen and purchased an iPad.
