The public release follows a private release to MSDN and TechNet customers last week. Copies of Microsoft's Windows 7 SP1 RTM update leaked last month to file sharing websites ahead of its release. Microsoft has confirmed 7601.17514.101119-1850 is the final RTM. The software giant has also pushed the bits out to Windows Update."</em></p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/dht/auto/1298407790.usr1.jpg" style="border: 1px solid #d2d2bb;" /></p><p>If you hit up Windows Update, you'll now see SP1 available for download. It's a somewhat lengthy download and install, so do it over your lunch/dinner break.&nbsp;</p>

I found this tip on Neowin that some of you might find useful: after installing SP1, go to an elevated command prompt and type this command:
dism /online /cleanup-image /spsuperseded

This will run a tool to remove the backup files SP1 creates during install; you'll recover 2-3 GBs. (Probably also removes the ability to uninstall SP1, so you might want to wait a bit!)
