Well, that&rsquo;s what Xtreamer is looking to offer with its new mini-ITX Xtreamer Ultra product, set to debut at CeBIT next month. The Xtreamer Ultra is an &ldquo;aggressively priced&rdquo; media streamer / HTPC that can be loaded with a Windows or Linux-based operating system compatible with popular media center applications like Windows Media Center, MediaPortal, Boxee, XBMC, and others."</em></p><p><em><object width="600" height="360" data="http://www.youtube.com/v/EX_m27UVjVQ&amp;feature=player_embedded&amp;ap=%26fmt=18" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/EX_m27UVjVQ&amp;feature=player_embedded&amp;ap=%26fmt=18" /></object></em></p><p>Pretty neat way to get a streamer that will also work as a full fledged HTPC. &nbsp;It'll only run you $272 but remember, if you want to go the full HTPC route, you will still need to add an OS, hard disk, and optical drive. &nbsp;</p>

Am I missing something or is this just a nettop?? Super snazzy YouTube vid, but I don't see how it is materially different from:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856107076

OR

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16859324008

OR CERTAINLY

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856107072

Not a bad looking product, but I'm not seeing the revolution to go with the glitz marketing.

revolutionary? yeah perhaps not....

it does however offer a lot more bang for your buck when compared with the competition and the examples you have provided - key differences being:

- 4GB ram incl;
- Default operating system on the Xtreamer Ultra, is a combination Ubuntu with Xtreamer's Media Player OS (customizations).
- There would be a Wallpaper on it with Apps such as XBMC, Boxee, Firefox, Skype etc. This comes preloaded on a 16GB USB Disk. So you are plug and play as a media player and pc;
- Remote is included, and will not only turn the unit on and off, but will control XBMC straight off the bat - this is not done by anyone else;
- Pre-configured drivers will already be included in the OS - so no tweaking / hacks required to get the all the hardware working;
- Uses ALC 892 audio chip which supports 7.1 and will be licensed for HD audio (DTS-MA etc.). Most of the similar units on the market use the older 880 chip which does not support HD audio.

* credit to Xtreamer USA for the above info

and all of this for 200euro (+shipping)

so i would suggest that the price and the convenience is in fact the revolution :)
