With Honeycomb, a lot of companies are making their entries into the slate market in a big way and with a step up over the original iPad specs. Dual core processing and capable 3D rendering should make Android tablets tempting to buy, though once the iPad 2 comes out, competition might become a lot stiffer. With the rate at which the slate market is developing, it actually will not surprise me if we start seeing quad core devices within a year. Once we reach that milestone, I actually begin to wonder if we will see a rule of diminishing returns, where slate (and even smartphone) capabilities will be enough that hardware will no longer be a determining factor. Is a slate tablet in your sights or are you going to wait the weeks months needed for yet another generation to come out?

I'm still looking for the holy grail tablet. I've had two iPads, and sold them. I'm undecided about what form factor I want next - I got one of the newest Kindles for the holidays, and like the form factor, so a 7-inch tablet may be in my future, if it is high enough resolution. I'm intrigued by the PlayBook and QNX, and, Android 3.o sounds pretty compelling. But, I may wait to see what Apple has up their sleeves for the next iPad iteration. In the meantime, I'm using my MacBook Air (11.6") now, and don't miss the iPad (much).

Hmm, you know, I'm starting to see a pattern here. I think those of us who have smaller notebooks (12" and below) find the iPad too big, while those who are used to (and like) working on larger notebooks find 7" tablets too small.

I'm still waiting for something that fits my needs: great hardware with NO INTEGRATED 3G...or at least not something that I have to buy on contract. I just want the hardware, not a monthly contract to go with it.
I can't ignore the ecosystem aspects either; I've purchased at least 50 apps for my iPod Touch, and being able to use those on an iPad is a compelling advantage.
I'd say there's a 70% chance I'll get an iPad 2 when they come out...but I still wish they did a 7" version. That's the size of tablet I'd prefer.

It could be worth to check what are the offers for devices abroad; other Countries are not locked in the carriers "racket" so dominant in the US.

I'm thinking about gettng a tablet this year but I'm waiting for Google's reference device (a la the Nexus phones). I'm wondering if its the G-Slate or something yet to be announced.
I want updates directly from Google like my Nexus One. And I have to say that I"m thinking a 7inch size would be ideal for me.
