This is not unexpected news, and one that was bound to happen eventually, but I must admit it's come quicker than I thought it might. I use the Kindle app on my tablet and phone, and I do buy Kindle books, but I do miss holding a real book in my hands sometimes. I can't put my finger on what it is that makes it so much more enjoyable for me to read a real book than the ones I read on the tablet, but there is just something that does. That said, the ability to save space on storing all the books I have, keep a back up copy, and carry so many with me on my travels means that I will continue to buy ebooks for convenience, and save the purchasing of paper backs and hardbacks for those special occaisions as a treat.

I absolutely love my color Nook. I thought I was going to miss having actual books, but the Nook is so much better for reading at night (when I do most of my reading) that I was a little miffed when I got a couple of real books for Christmas. Having to make sure my book light had batteries and then constantly adjusting the light to make sure I could read the whole page now seems like such a pain that I have no desire to go back to real books. Plus for new book it is a decent amount cheaper too.

I always read in well-lit environments, so I'll never get this call for backlit ebooks.

One thing about paper books: For reference it's still easier to flip through them when you're familiar with the book's contents. On an eink device the refresh is annoying, and some interfaces are terrible for searching for keywords.
