The screen detaches and you have an Android 2.2-based tablet computer, and when you dock it with the main chassis, you have a full-fleged Windows 7 computer. I think it's great to see companies pushing the envelope of what's possible with computer designs like this - we need more of that in an industry where, all too often, companies are afraid to experiment in case they fail. My hat is off to Lenovo for stepping out with this design.

Engadget has further details on the product that, while originally was announces at CES 2010, seemed to become more official at CES 2011.

Hmm, Jason, no word on the U1's ability to sync browser windows in the background? That was a feature on the original U1 (running Skylight) being touted. When docked in Windows mode, the Skylight OS would run quietly in the background and duplicate whatever windows your browser had open. When undocked and switched to Skylight, it'd then pick up where you left off. Did Lenovo remove that feature due to Android?

Wow, that's a COOL feature! No, they didn't mention that feature.

Damn, I think it got removed with the implementation of Android.
