But if you were planning on picking up a Wi-Fi only iPad for someone, this is a pretty good bonus and gives you some flexibility versus the 3G version since you can use these hotspots for other devices. And since you no longer have to worry about the <a href="http://consumerist.com/2010/12/best-buy-puts-an-end-to-most-tyrannical-restocking-fees.html" target="_blank">restocking fees</a> Best Buy is infamous for, there is even less risk!&nbsp;</p>

You gotta be careful with these 'deals.' As you mentioned there is a two year commitment that comes with this. At about $60/month, that's a $1440 free MiFi. If AT&T is still not requiring a contract for the 3G iPads, then you can get away with $15-$25/month when you need it. If you have other needs for that MiFi, this can save you a hundred up front (rough price of increase to 3G iPad) but it's that contract you gotta watch. No such thing as a free puppy ;)
