I was so happy. Then I spent 30 minutes wondering why I lost my audio... until I remembered one of its new "features": Transform the iPad's screen lock into the mute switch."</em></p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/at/auto/1290521810.usr105634.jpg" style="border: 1px solid #d2d2bb;" /></p><p>The biggest problem I have seen so far with the iOS 4.2 update on the iPad. This really annoys me, more than I thought it would as I use the lock, or what used to be the lock, quite a bit. Yes, I know, it's simple procedure to lock the orientation using the touch screen by clicking twice on the home button, slide your finger left and tap to lock the screen, but it was so much easier with the button. I'm hoping that Apple takes the user opinions into account but I'm not sure they will.&nbsp;</p>

Couldn't agree more!

Its got my, my wife and even our 4.5 year old son all confused and frustrated.

Since they don't know about the OS update I installed on the ipad (they couldn't care less about multitasking etc.) most of the time they're using a muted ipad wondering where the hell the sound went.

this must be undone!

This is really the first and only time I've ever considered jailbreaking an iOS device. It annoys me to no end.

Agreed. While I often want to mute my phone, and rarely wish to lock it's screen rotation, I rarely wish to mute my iPad, and more often want to lock rotation. It used to make sense.
