The update includes bug fixes, but it also adds the long requested ability to access your account and privacy settings directly from the iPhone app without having to log into Facebook.com."

Even though this wasn't a frequent occurrence, it was kind of a pain, having to get out of the app and go to the browser to make changes for Facebook. It is still rather cumbersome however, since all it does is open a browser within the app so you can make the changes, but at least you don't have to close the app and open the browser yourself. It could have been done better in my opinion, but perhaps this is just a step in the process. The update is also supposed to fix the annoying bug that gives errors when you try to upload photos to albums, something I get about 50% of the time literally, so I'm hoping it does work.
