The PlayBook will indeed match the iPad in having 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants available, and will also come equipped with a pretty huge 5,300mAh battery."

While the BlackBerry PlayBook may not be out yet, more details have been released showing it similar specifications as the iPad if not slightly ahead. This is good, as the PlayBook is not billed to be available for another few months, giving other manufacturers plenty of time to come up with more competition. 2011 is definitely looking to be when the slate will show the most innovation and determine who domaintes the industry. It also kind of indicates a shift away from a trend I was hoping would continue. With slates becoming a "must have" device for many people, I would not be surprised if people start carrying dozens of items with them again. While the camera and mp3 player integrated nicely into the phone (with varying levels of quality, mind you) it seems that larger scale "computing" does not want to be squeezed into the smartphone. And I was getting quite comfortable carrying a single device for all my light mobile needs.
