Screen Capture utility?

Anyone know of a (preferably free) screen capture utility for Android?

There's one in the Market -- but they want $4, and I have all the details about using the one in the SDK.

But I was looking for something that didn't require me to tether my phone to my PC to get screen shots...

Any ideas?

Do you have a rooted phone? If so, I'd recommend ShootMe or PicMe, both excellent apps by the same developer for screenshots.

Non-rooted phones pose a bit of a problem. There are options, however they're generally pricier or convoluted.
