Celebrate of course, though having a parade wouldn't have been my first choice of things to do. The Windows Phone team have developed what amounts to a new mobile OS in less than two years, and the fruits of their labours will be unveiled for all the world to see in (probably) a month's time. It's probably back to work soon on all the stuff they left out (cut and paste, please!), but in the meantime...</p>

No competitors were harmed in the making of this parade.

Typical in that they have no clue who their real enemy is (Android based phones)

They have no actual enemy except relevance ;)

Amazing that people who obviously hate MS and WP7 would even bother to post. I guess the only thing that MS could do that would meet your approval is if they replaced WP7 with android, right?

What IS IT that creates fanboys with such a hatred of anything not running their fav OS?

Just stating facts... sort of ironic that you're pretty much the only one here doing what you're stating ;)

I do not see how stating that the real competitor for WM7 is Android and not Apple would tag people as fanboys; "Maître à penser" would be more appropriate in my opinion......

Why's that? They're a group of people who have worked hard on a product, and now that it's shipping, they're celebrating. What's wrong with that? The fact that they held a mock funeral for their competition shows their competitive fire, which is great. I like seeing passion and commitment to success!

I swear that Microsoft could cure cancer and people would STILL criticize them for not doing it better, sooner, with a catchier product name, etc. It's just SO trendy to bash Microsoft.

Would have rather seen them dressed up in Halo gear blasting the competition, not a bunch of clowns in a pickup truck :)

All the Halo costumes are in use for the Halo REACH launch. :D

Well, besides the obvious fact that it was not a "spontaneous" celebration of a group of people but a "corporate" planned event I would never stage a mock funeral for a competitor until my product has proven to be successful on the market. Too risks of backfire......

...blah blah blah...I swear that Microsoft could cure cancer and people would STILL criticize...

You may want to dig a little further into your bag for some catch-phrases -- you never know who might be reading your words and how some terms, when used lightly, can be a little unsettling.

You're certainly not the only one to do it, but coming from a family with a long history of hereditary cancers, it causes a slight tinge when writers take the topic so lightly as to use it in such a casual manner.

Perhaps you care about this perception, perhaps you don't -- but it does have an effect I believe most users of it would consider unintentional.

I apologize that my use of the phrase caused you grief; that was not my intention. It's a very commonly used phrase though and I don't know how you'd avoid seeing/hearing it. I've lost several family members and a friend in her 30's to cancer, and in fact another relative I have probably won't survive to the end of the month because of cancer. So I'm sadly all too familiar with the impact of cancer...but I still won't stop using the word as if it were somehow forbidden.

I said nothing about the disease of CANCER being a forbidden word, just the insensitive manner in which you used the phrase. Regardless, it's a phrase you're accustom to using and will obviously continue to do so.
