Open up iTunes like above and find the books folder. Once there, all you have to do is drag and drop the files you want on your iDevice into this folder. Then click on your device to the left side of the screen, go to the Books tab and sync the ones you want on your device. Pretty easy actually.</p>

You can just drag epub books directly into the iTunes interface. No need to put them in the folder. I add epubs that way all the time. That's how I add MP3 files too. :-)

You can also drop files into the "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder in your iTunes library folder.

I always forget about that. Thanks for the reminder!

Calibre can also add books to your iPad through iTunes, which is great, because I like Calibre to manage and convert books. So there's another option.
