Default I'm a Man Without a Zune

Yesterday, I packaged up both of my Zunes and shipped them off - so now I'm officially Zune-less. Woe is me!

The first Zune, my replaced white one, has been shipped off to the fine folks at Colorware for a custom colour configuration (say that five times fast!). What colours did I select? You'll have to wait and see - I should have it back in a few weeks, and when I get it back I'll be snapping all sorts of pictures of it and talk about how the Zune looks/feels after the Colorware X2 treatment. I can't wait!

My other Zune, the dysfunctional black one, is on it's way down to my buddy Vincent [language warning] who's going to be shipping it off to the Zune repair centre. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with a technician yesterday going over all of the problems that the Zune had back in January when I talked to them the first time. It seems the first technician I talked to didn't keep notes so I had to re-do everything from scratch: a reset, update the firmware, restore back to stock firmware, etc. It was made extra painful by the fact that the technician I spoke to was very difficult to understand because his English was so poor (and Zune tech support isn't on a far-away land...).

Once the tech agreed that my Zune really was borked, he arranged to have the repair box shipped to Vincent, and then I shipped my Zune to Vincent. He'll ship the Zune to the repair depot, they'll repair or replace it (they'd better replace it!), then they'll ship it back to him and he'll ship it back to me. Painful, isn't it? That's the perils of buying a product that isn't officially supported in the country where you reside.

So I sit here, a man without a Zune. I fired up my Zen Vision:M, which I haven't done in a while, and there's a lot to like about it - the touch-bar sucks though, the Zune has a a much better method of navigation. Oh Zune, my Zune, come back to me...
