2009: Year Of The FreeRead
I'm pleased to announce that E-Read Indeed (http://ereadindeed.blogspot.com) is declaring 2009 to be the Year Of The FreeRead. Every day throughout 2009, visit the site and find a link to download a free complete work. Don't worry...we're not talking about another recycling of War And Peace or sample chapters or other public domain stuff. These will be full works (short stories included) available for no charge.
Why? E-Read Indeed is committed to not only getting ebooks into the hands of everyone, but to also expose readers to publishers and authors they may never have heard of. Folks are a lot more willing to take a chance on something they didn't pay for, so why not?

I was going to chuckle when you said that you had "declared" it, but as you're actually doing something, I think that's a good idea.

P.S. If you didn't know, ereadindeed.com is available. You'll look more credible as somebody to do business with if you have an E-mail address at your own domain than one at GMail and domains are very cheap (under $10 per year). A good registrar will even allow you to redirect ereadindeed.com to your blog. Plus, if you ever decide to move beyond a blog, you'll have a domain with an established name.
Just a suggestion (before I go squat that domain  ).

Thanks for the heads-up...really do appreciate the advice. I'm pretty well-known in the ebook world, due to my previous work with KnowBetter.com (http://www.knowbetter.com) but am sort of moving out on my own now. The idea of creating a web page will get me waking up screaming in the middle of the night (I have NO knowledge in that area at all). I am hoping things will branch out as time moves on.....

The beautiful thing is that you don't have to create a Web page at all. You can just reroute your domain to your existing blog and not worry about a hosted Web site at all if you don't want to.
To avoid further digression, PM me if you want some ideas. I did that for a few years with my domain, so I can probably help you if you're interested.

So I took the plunge and went ahead and established http://ereadindeed.com for the site, currently hosted through Bluehost. Annnnd...I've started posting the FreeReads. Thanks for the input. I've got it sort of set up as a Wordpress site, but I've got to figure out how to do some of the other things I want to do yet.....
