On the plus side, you could always open Zebra Thoughts and keep the ZT initials... wait a minute... that's not much of a plus.... but at least the theme would still match.

Yeah, I agree. I feel like Microsoft never really gave it a real try though because they never launched fully outside the USA. The USA is very iPod-focused, but other places in the world are less so...and the way they killed off the smaller form factors really sucked. They needed to attack Apple on all fronts, not deliver ONE type of device to the market. The Zune HD is too big/expensive for many people to want to take the gym for instance; they needed a smaller device to attract those buyers.

Like...me. The first MP3 player I had was an iRiver t10. Going to the Zune was a huge change. I prefer a small player and I've always stated I care about one thing...music. Not apps or games. That's why I've always been very interested in the Nano. Only the lack of a subscription has kept me away from it. And I can't lie, eMusic is a very good looking alternative for that.
Its so frustrating. They had, from launch, a device with an awesome UI and really cool services built around music. And they just let it wither to what it is today (which is still an awesome device...but such an uncertain future)
