Looks generally good but I'm currious about one aspect of the PCH: how exactly does it process sub-HD video? Does it upscale it onboard or just send it out at native/SD resolution for the TV to process?
In other words, when you play back an SD video file on your 720p display, what resolution is the display receiving? 480p or 720p? (Does your display provide that info?)
Does it make any difference if you tell it to talk to the TV at 480p, 720p, or 1080i?
The theoretical difference is that if it upscales on-board, then you should get the same general video quality independent of the display but if it relies on the TV the quality will depend on the display's electronics. The former case would allow use of small computer monitors and cheap LCD TVs for viewing, the latter would preclude it. Details, details, I know...
Would be nice if they improved music playback features, no?
Otherwise it looks very useful...
